VEHICLE FOOTPRINT
Every vehicle leaves behind a CO2e footprint throughout its life-cycle. This life-cycle includes the procurement, production, use and recycling or disposal of raw materials and other materials. CO2 equivalents (CO2e) are a unit of measurement to standardise the climate impact of different greenhouse gases, such as methane.
Emissions generated along the supply chain, by transport logistics and upstream energy provision, are reported as CO2e. Electricity produced from regenerative in-house generation systems, direct supply contracts and certified proof of origin are all taken into account when allowing for electricity from renewable energy sources.

Your MINI Countryman E will be handed over to you with approx.13.7 tonnes of CO2e.
During the usage phase of the vehicle, we adopt WLTP consumption and a mileage of 200,000 km (approx. 125.000 mls). The mode of generation of the electricity used here has a major influence on the climate impact of your vehicle. A small amount of 0.6 t is allowed for the inclusion of CO2e from the construction of the energy infrastructure.
Public charging within the MINI Charging Network ensures that the equivalent amount of energy consumed with each charge is fed back into the power grid as electricity from renewable energy sources. Use of your own solar power you generate at home is possible with Connected Home Charging. This makes the MINI Countryman E CO2-emission-free while driving.
Emission values in the life-cycle assessment are model- and equipment-specific and are given here for the MINI Countryman E left-hand drive version. The figures throughout the various life-cycle phases will differ for other models we offer.

MINI has been synonymous with innovative consumption and range improvement solutions for generations of vehicles. It is therefore a key element of the BMW Group Sustainability Strategy. Key factors affecting greater driving enjoyment coupled with lower consumption and longer range include lightweight construction through the use of an optimised material mix of high-strength steels along with an aluminum front flap.
Moreover, favourable aerodynamic properties of the MINI Countryman with a drag coefficient value from 0.26 increase efficiency through the use of aerodynamic wheels, intelligent air flap control and a smooth vehicle underbody. These factors optimise the consumption of the MINI Countryman E to 17.4 – 15.7 kWh/100 km (3.6 – 4.0 mls/kWh) and also have a positive impact on the range.
Intelligent heat management with a heat pump and Max Range mode in the MINI Countryman E also provide greater efficiency. The latter mode is capable of increasing the range by up to 25% compared to Core mode, depending on the driving situation.
But you, the driver, as ever, are also a crucial influencing factor. You can save energy through an efficient driving style, depending on the route and traffic situation.
We adhere to these principles of circularity in order to conserve natural resources and retain high-quality materials in circulation over the long term. We therefore use secondary materials in new components. In addition, we are also increasing the recyclability of components through the design process and in product development.
The new MINI Countryman has a calculated secondary material content of approx. 17%. This value has been calculated at its start of production in 2024 based on specific supplier records and average industry values and also includes production residues.

Depending on the material, the use of secondary materials can make a major contribution to reducing the CO2e footprint.
In relation to the entire vehicle, at least 85% of materials are recycled and, including thermal utilisation, at least 95% as stipulated by legal requirements (European End-of-Life Vehicles Directive ELV 2000 /53 /EC). And, in accordance with current regulations, we also currently take back and recycle used vehicles at over 2,800 redemption points in 30 countries.

Social sustainability within the company, along the supply chain and also in society, plays a key role for the BMW Group. For years, we have aspired to respect human rights and applicable environmental standards along the global supply chain of our vehicles. To achieve this, we rely on collaboration – because we can only effectively counter the risks in our supply chain together.
In doing so, we employ on a catalogue of measures and the dovetailing of training courses, contractual agreements, certification and testing by means of questionnaires and audits. We determine specific need for action through regular risk analysis, enabling us to identify raw materials whose procurement and processing involve increased risks (possible negative impacts) on people and the environment.

When developing the all-electric MINI Countryman, we applied key design criteria to achieve maximum go-kart feeling. The lower centre-of-gravity due to the battery placement enhances driving dynamics. We achieve thrilling MINI response by optimising weight distribution and using a direct steering ratio coupled with a smaller steering wheel. And latest hardware and software enabled us to make handling even more playful, especially in the Go-Kart Mode.

The ALL4 all-wheel drive system distributes power dynamically between all wheels, giving you terrain-tackling traction and grip on all surfaces. And if it detects any loss of traction due to wet or icy surfaces, it shifts power dynamically as needed. With a fully charged battery the all-electric MINI Countryman can reach a range up to 462 km. The range will vary according to driving habits and conditions. How you drive can make a big difference to your available range and how quickly your charge is used.
Driving at a steady pace, rather than frequent, foot-down acceleration, will help you optimise your range. The Green mode offers you a consumption-reducing setting. It helps you get used to using the pedal to stay in an efficient range. If the efficiency meter strip glows green, you’re doing fine. If you speed up too powerfully, it’ll turn grey. It evaluates your efficiency since the start of your journey – and shows you how many bonus miles you’ve collected.

MINI has already made considerable progress in terms of sustainable manufacturing, but we know we’re still a long way from our destination.
At MINI, we are committed to pioneering a balance that embraces MINI performance and iconic design with sound environmental credentials. This commitment is born out of our actions. We now offer a completely animal-friendly, leather-free interior using sustainable, partly recycled materials. Our 2D flat knit for dashboards, door panels and lids is made from over 90% recycled polyester fibers. And our new generation wheels are now made from up to 70% secondary aluminium.

And our new steering wheels fulfil all the demanding criteria when it comes to appearance, wear and durability.
The dashboard and armrests in our doors are now fitted with a quality knitted textile made of recycled polyester yarn. Following an innovative process that turns over 90% of recycled polyester fibres into a 2D flat woven fabric, we then use this textile for the knitted parts of the dashboard and the door panels. The process uses around 98% less water than cotton, and it reduces CO2 emissions by around 80% compared to conventional polyester processing.
Our guiding principle during the design process and product development is “reclaimed first.” Up to 70% of reclaimed aluminium from aluminium scrap is used for the rims in our new-generation MINI vehicles. In conjunction with the green electricity used, we save around 90% of the energy required compared with primary aluminium production. Secondary aluminium production is associated with 95% fewer greenhouse emissions.

MINI has now completely dispensed with "rare earths" in the drivetrain of the all-electric MINI Countryman. This was achieved by adopting a new design approach in which magnetic fields replace the conventional magnets, eliminating the need for these materials. This significant development enables the production process of all-electric MINIs to become even more sustainable and helps further relieve the burden on the environment.

A full-featured voice assistant has found its way into the cockpit of the MINI models for the first time. The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated using the greeting “Hey MINI” or by pressing the push-to-talk button on the steering wheel. Voice-controlled interaction on the circular OLED display takes the form of an animation featuring graphical elements, typography and an avatar. In terms of the display, drivers can choose between “MINI” – a stylised image of a MINI – and the new digital MINI assistant known as “Spike”.
